Bought this to replace a ge unit that only lasted 1 year before the refrigerant leaked out. So far the unit works well. The pump system is not explained properly in the manual and I had to look closely at its mechanism to see how it works. When the tank gets full, water reaches a switch and the pump inlet drops down then pumps water until it drops below the inlet opening which is about 1/3 or so below full. While this ensures water is pumped out for continuous operation it will not fully empty the tank unless you do that manually. When you open and slide out the water container it pushes the pump inlet back up into its locked position. Read about cleaning the pump inlet filter in the user manual and you will see for yourself. This unit uses r34 which runs at lower pressure than the r410 in the ge unit, so keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn’t leak refrigerant-I got the 3 year warranty just in case.
Loved the way it worked so quickly. I do wish these things were quieter, but it makes for good white noise.
Unit collected quite a bit of water out of the air, however, it did'nt seem to cover the amount ofarea advertised. Worked well in smaller rooms, such as the bedrooms, but certainly not the living room/kitchen areas. Reduced humidity significantly, but also used enough energy for me to notice a difference in the electric bill within several weeks. The drain pump did not drain the tank completely, and began to smell after several days, unless it was removed, and cleaned. I returned the unit.
The pump only ejects about 25% of the tank so the tank is always at least 75% full. Otherwise works as expected.
CANNOT TELL HOW LONG IT WILL LAST
